Living for Others

Tears are still falling,

The lines are blurred, and you don’t know where to turn.

The path before you isn’t paved because you are the first one there.

And it’s hard to travel with a broken heart carrying the weight of your sins on your shoulders.

But it’s there, in the desert, that you lay them down.

No one taught you how to do this.

When it’s hard to see the next step, you walk in faith.

When you can’t see signs up ahead, you go anyway.

And it’s hard to go when the pain has chained you to the past

But it’s there at the well in the middle of nowhere that you become free of them.

All the mistakes drag behind you leaving reminders in the dirt that Jesus already wiped away.

And this is why we share the suffering of a broken heart that has healing left to do

This is why we bear each other’s burdens-paving a path to show others the way to healing.

This is why Jesus did what he did, he carried the cross so we wouldn’t have to.
